Ganderbal, May 18 (KNO): The students of Government Middle School at Bago Rampora in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district say they are made to study under the open sky as the education department is yet to renovate the damaged structure. The building was badly damaged after a huge dry Chinar tree fell on it in December last year. As the incident occurred at midnight, there was no loss of life or injury. The students while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the school lacks space after the damage. “But no step has been taken toward its renovation. We have been suffering a lot, especially during bad weather. We get disturbed and distracted during classes,” said a student. The teachers echoed similar concerns. “Due to the bad condition of the school, the roll has decreased as parents are reluctant to send their children here,” said a teacher. The school management said the matter has been brought to the concerned authorities but no heed has been paid so far. “It becomes very hectic for us to manage, as we feel helpless. We often have to conduct two different classes in the same room or even drop the students off at their homes,” the teacher said. “Currently, we have 83 students enrolled which is very less as compared to last year.” Chief Education Officer Ganderbal Majid Kohli told KNO that a proposal has been sent to the Deputy Commissioner. “Once the proposal is approved, we will immediately start the work,” the CEO said—(KNO)
